About Berchtesgaden
For generations people have been visiting the climatic health resort of Berchtesgaden and the Berchtesgadener Land region for all-round health and spa vacations. There is a salt evaporation works which uses brine from the saltworks to release the fresh and stimulating scent of sea air. The healing power of water is used to therapeutic effect at the Watzmann Therme pool complex.
This is a place for water lovers of all ages to experience the magic of water - it’s a paradise for all the senses. The attractive spa and pool complex is set in stunning surroundings and has around 900 square metres of pools which guarantee fun in the water for the whole family. There’s something for everyone. For example there’s an adventure pool with a counter-current section, a large mother-and-toddler area, indoor and outdoor brine pools with a cascade and brine garden, brine steambath tunnels, salt grottos, a large sauna area with wood cabins, infrared cabin and a saunarium with coordinated light, fragrances and colours.
As unmistakable as the Matterhorn above the village of Zermatt in Switzerland, Mount Watzmann, at 2,173 metres high, and its adjoining peaks make up Berchtesgadener Land’s most famous landmark. The massif has a varied landscape of towering peaks and imposing rock faces. The nearly 2,000 metre high east face slopes down to Lake Königssee from the southern peak of the massif and is the highest rock precipice in the eastern alps. It remains to this day a great challenge for mountaineers.
